We're Lance and Keri. We met and married while in college in Utah in 2010. After graduation we talked about grad schools and real jobs but opted to move to China instead. There we taught English in Henan in a city of 6 million. It was essentially my first time out of the US and the culture shock was real -- but immersion came quick.
During school breaks we took slow trains to nearby provinces, seated beside locals with live chickens at their feet. We explored ancient walled cities, gawked at giant Buddhas carved into cliffs, ate street food while wandering the world's biggest cities, and hiked in the otherworldly mountains of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.
We learned to communicate without language, to adapt when things didn't go as planned. It was hard and wild and the most amazing thing I've ever done to date. International wanderlust set in and never left.
Since then we've visited 30 countries together. After China we spent a summer backpacking through Europe, where we cycled through the French countryside and got lost in Germany's Black Forest. We returned to America for grad school and babies, and eventually moved to London, England where we endured a world wide pandemic and welcomed our third child.
Despite lock downs and having three young kids, we adventured hard, taking 31 international trips to 21 countries in the 35 months we lived there. Now based out of Southern California, we pack in as many trips a year as we can :)

I'm Keri.
Google "Type A Personality" and you'll find the definition is someone who is ambitious, competitive, impatient, highly organized, able to multi-task and driven to achieve. That's me. I live life with a strong sense of urgency. I thrive on completing to-do lists and start every day at zero. Sorry if that stresses you out.
I research and plan all of our trips, spending hours and hours reading about each destination's history, travel logistics, popular tourist sites and off-the-beaten-track experiences. I don't believe adventure has to mean spontaneous. I plan detailed itineraries down to the hour. Ask me about it and I'll show you sometime.
I'm the main author, photographer and designer of this site. If you send us an email, it's me who responds.
In my free time, you'll find me on my bike, at a yoga studio or more recently rock climbing at the gym. I'm passionate about human rights and showing my kids the world is a lot bigger than their current hometown.
Relaxed, easygoing, and flexible, Lance's patient and fun-loving personality softens my rigidness and takes over when we experience any travel mishaps or family meltdowns.
A typical day for Lance starts on his surfboard or mountain bike before the sun is fully up. By the time I'm awake and getting the kids ready for school he’ll be in the kitchen making breakfast or on a work call in his home office in our garage. There he’ll stay until mid-afternoon when he and the kids will board our electric long-tail bike and head for the soccer field where he volunteer coaches both their teams.
An avid mountain biker, weekend surfer and newbie climber, Lance enjoys living an active lifestyle. He ski raced in high school and college, where he graduated with an MBA. On our trips, Lance is in charge of driving, carrying the children and executing the itineraries I plan. He's the one catching lizards with the kids while I'm planning our next move. He makes all of the videos on our site and manages a lot behind the scenes. When not on the road with us, he works as a consultant at a business management company.
